Parents can register their children for 1 hour individualized tutoring sessions in math, reading, written composition, science, and Latin. Depending on the subject and grade level, sessions can be conducted in person or virtually. Tutoring allows for direct instruction and intervention in areas needing the greatest improvement.
During registration, families will schedule an educational consultation and assessment session ($150).
Research shows that students make more significant progress with a lower student-to-teacher ratio. Thus, all small groups will have no more than 8 students per class. Each class will have an instructor and instructional assistant to provide a 1 to 4 ratio for valuable small-group instruction designed for the needs of each individual student.
All instructors have degrees in education or a related field and undergo professional development to ensure they are prepared for students with various abilities.
Many school curricula are not well-researched and do not have evidence of their success in the classroom. Students may not make progress because the curriculum does not meet the student population's needs.
What makes a curriculum successful are the well-researched instructional strategies within the program that have shown success with a similar group of students.
Thus, most of the instruction provided at CARES is based on well-researched instructional strategies selected for the students taking each course. This means students receive instruction tailored to their specific needs, even in a group setting!
During registration, families will schedule an educational consultation and assessment session.
Registration is for the ENTIRE semester
with the following days off: Oct.18 & 21 (UF Homecoming), Nov. 11 (Veteran's Day), and Nov. 25 - 29 (Thanksgiving Break).
Small Groups are tailored to meet the unique needs of the students. To monitor progress, portfolios will be maintained during each Small Group.
